Information Sought: The appellant had sought information in relation to Post Diploma Medical
Electronics(PDME) course of Central Calcutta Polytechnic(CCP) at Kolkata, under West Bengal State
Council of Technical Education and Dept. of Technical Education & Training (DTE & T) of Govt. of
West Bengal.

Sl. Information Sought PIO’s Reply

1. Copies of documents submitted by PDME course at Central Calcutta polytechnic, Kolkata
WBSCTE/DTE&T with was approved by AICTE during the year 1994-95 as per
application/request for records available at ERO or AICTE, Kolkata. During
accreditation/recognition/approval of those day, either the Institution or Director of Technical
PDME course of CCP-specially those Education (Diploma matter) of Concerned State used to
documents, which were required to be sent the proposal of Govt. Institution for additional
submitted as per AICTE norms and Courses /increase in intake. Since, the case is old and
regulations for approval of new related to year1994-95, the copy of the application
course. submitted by the institution/DTET is not available at
this stage and such old documents on which the decision
is already completed are also not kept due to shortage of
space and document keeping policy.

2. Names of the facilities appointed for At present all Diploma matters are being processed
teaching and training of PDME under decentralized system through State Level
course of CCP since its beginning till Committee where Secretary dealing with Technical

The answer to query 1 is not proper. If the record has been destroyed, the PIO must provide a
copy of the destruction of records. If the records are lost, the Public authority will file a Police
complaint and send a copy to the appellant. As for query 3, the PIO is directed to obtain the
information and send it to the appellant.

Decision:

The Appeal is allowed.

The PIO will send the information described above to the appellant before 30 January 2009.
