Background

1. The Appellant filed an RTI request dt.28.11.07 with the CPIO, Dept. of
Posts, New Delhi. The Appellant sought the following information in
respect of three accounts in name of Shri K.R.Chauhan, depositor:

i) Intimate the invested amount, you consider justify investment
in each account

ii) The invested amount you found justify for MIS interest in each
account

iii) The MIS interest is paid in each account

iv) The quantum of interest required to be paid in each account

v) The approximate date on which interest mentioned in

vi) Likely date to be paid to MIS holder
The CPIO replied on 7.1.08 stating that the Appellant who is also
President of Small savings Agent’s Association is supposed to know the
rules and is also expected to have enough knowledge to guide the
public properly. He denied information under Section 8(1)(d)(e)(j) of
the RTI Act. Not satisfied with the reply, the Appellant filed an appeal
dt.21.1.08 reiterating his request for the information. The Appellate
Authority replied on 18.2.08 upholding the decision of the CPIO. The
second appeal was preferred before the CIC on 26.9.08.

2. The Bench of Mrs. Annapurna Dixit, Information Commissioner,
scheduled the hearing for January 15, 2009.

3. Both the Appellant and the Public Authority were absent during the
hearing.

Decision

4. After going through the RTI request, the Commission rejects the
appeal.
