Background
1. The Applicant filed an RTI request dt.4.7.08 with the CPIO, DoP, New Delhi.
He stated that he had sent a complaint cum representation dt.7.5.08 to the
Secretary cum Director General of Post. He wanted to know what action had
been taken, whether his requisition would be complied with or not and wanted
the CPIO to furnish the copy of reports, if any, received from the subordinate
officials. The CPIO replied on 17.7.08 stating that the Applicant’s complaint
cum representation dt.7.5.08 has not been received in the office and that the
applicant has not mentioned the subject matter in his RTI application. He
requested the Applicant to send the same so as to enable him to forward the
representation to the concerned CPIO to process the case further. Not
satisfied with the reply, the Applicant filed a complaint dt.19.10.08 before the
CIC.
2. The Bench of Mrs. Annapurna Dixit, Information Commissioner, scheduled the
hearing for March 23, 2009.
3. Both the Appellant and the Respondents were absent at the hearing.
Decision
4. The Commission advises the complainant to send a copy of his complaint cum
representation dt. 7.5.08 to the Respondents within 5 days of the receipt of
this Order and the CPIO to provide the information by 15th April, 2009. The
Respondent is also directed to follow up with the Deptt. of Post in an effort to
locate the missing registered letter and also to identify the person who has
received the Registered Post on 13.5.08, as maintained by the Complainant.
This information is to be sent to the Commission within 15 days of the receipt
of this Order with a copy to the Complainant.
5. The appeal is disposed off.
