Background
1. The Appellant filed his RTI application dt.5.3.08 with the CPIO, Dept.
of Posts, Lucknow. He requested for translation of the English
version of the Chargesheet given to him, into Hindi. The CPIO replied
on 26.3.08 stating that since the Appellant has already appeared for
the Intermediate exam and is well versed in English language, he
should get the chargesheet translated himself. The Appellant filed an
appeal dt.23.4.08 with the Appellate Authority. The Appellate
Authority upheld the decision of the CPIO on 23.4.08. The Appellant
filed a second appeal dt.21.8.08 before the CIC.
2. The Bench of Mrs. Annapurna Dixit, Information Commissioner,
scheduled the hearing on January 19, 2009.
3. Mr. Rameshwar Dayal, Asstt. Director and CPIO and Mr. S.P. Pathak,
S.S. (Legal Cell) represented the Public Authority.
4. The Appellant was not present during the hearing.
Decision
5. The Commission directs the CPIO to provide the Appellant with the
Hindi translation of the Chargesheet.
6. The appeal is disposed off.
