Background
1. The Applicant filed his RTI application dt.17.11.08 with the CPIO, DoP,
Gurgaon. He requested for information against 4 points regarding pension of
his mother Smt. Sumitra Devi. The CPIO replied on 16.12.08 providing point
wise information and enclosing copy of letter transferring pension case of Ms.
Sumitra Devi, Railway Pensioner, addressed to the Divisional Account Officer,
Western Railway, Bikaner, vide letter dt.27.3.08 sent by Account Officer
Pension Ambala. Not satisfied with the reply, the Applicant filed an appeal
dt.28.1.09 with the Appellate Authority. The Appellate Authority replied on
23.2.09 directing the CPIO to provide information within 7 days of receipt of
his decision. Aggrieved with the reply, the Applicant filed a second appeal
dt.31.3.09 before the CIC.
2. The Bench of Mrs. Annapurna Dixit, Information Commissioner, scheduled the
hearing for May 27, 2009.
3. Mr. Jagdish Chander, Supdt. of Post Office, Gurgaon cum CPIO and Mr. Sushil
Kumar, Director of Postal Services, Gurgaon represented the Public Authority.
4. The Applicant was not present during the hearing.
Decision
5. The Commission received a fax from the Appellant dated 27.5.09 requesting
the Commission to ensure that photocopies of all the communication sent by
the Bhorakalan sub post office and the Gurgaon Head Office to Director
(Accounts) Ambala regarding the pension of Smt. Sumitra Devi be provided to
him. The Respondent submitted that the relevant information had been sent
to the Appellant even before the RTI application was filed, on 12.11.07 by
the Postmaster, Gurgaon Head Office. The information was sent to Director
(Accounts), Postal, Ambala with a copy to the Appellant. The Commission,
however, directs the CPIO to send one more set of the same information to
the Appellant by the 10th of June, 2009.
6. The appeal is disposed off.
