Facts

Vide his RTI application of 20/07/2009, the applicant Shri SN Rao sought
information from the CPIO, United India Insurance Company Limited, Divisional Office
number 3, Mumbai regarding action taken on two letters written by him dated 18/06/2008
and 19/01/2009 and also regarding how much time is taken by them for settlement of any
particular claim along with rules regarding relevance of marital status, residential address
and earnings for renewal of personal accident policy by the insured.
2. The CPIO vide his order of 20/08/2009 provided point wise information which
failed to satisfy the applicant who preferred appeal dated 19/09/2009 before the First
Appellate Authority. Vide his order of 18/10/2009 FAA, while upholding the order of the
CPIO provided additional information with reference to the company’s Citizen Charter
and in respect of point (e) of the RTI application.
3. Being aggrieved and not being satisfied with the above orders, the applicant
proceeded to challenge them before the Commission by preferring second appeal. The
matter was heard today through video conferencing. Both parties were present as above
and presented arguments.
4. Appellant stated that information provided was incorrect, vague and misleading
and requested opportunity for inspection of documents.
Decision
5. After hearing the averments of both parties and taking note of facts on record,
Commission directs respondent to provide opportunity of inspection of the complete file
to the applicant within 01 week of receipt of the order. Respondents will also provide
copies of documents sought by the appellant after inspection.
