On behalf of the Respondent, Shri Krishna Kumar, CPIO was present.
2. We heard this case through videoconferencing. Both the parties were
present in the Gandhi Nagar studio of the NIC. We heard their submissions.
3. The Appellant had sought a number of information regarding the
employees of the Gujurat Zone who had been granted voluntary retirement
under the VRS 2000. The CPIO had refused to disclose most of the information
on the ground that it was personal information of others and could not be
provided. After carefully considering the submissions of both the parties and
after examining the contents of the RTI application, we do not find any of these
items of information to be in the nature of personal information except one or

two relating to the mandatory fixed deposits. After all, the bank had adopted the
voluntary retirement scheme and had approved of the voluntary retirement of
some employees. The citizens have the right to know about the voluntary
retirement proposals approved by the bank and all the related details just as
they have a right to know about the serving employees and their compensation
package etc. In view of this, we direct the CPIO to provide to the Appellant
within 10 working days from the receipt of this order the desired information in
its entirety except the one relating to the date of actual payment of the fixed
deposit (item 14), preferably in a tabular format along with the photocopies of
any supporting documents and records.
4. With the above direction, the appeal is disposed off.
5. Copies of this order be given free of cost to the parties.
