Background

1. The Applicant filed his request on 09.01.09 with the CPIO, North Easter Railway,
Bareilly seeking information related to the salaries of her husband Mr. Mahavir Prasad
for the period January 2007 to 30 June 2007 and pensionary benefits from January
2008 to December 2008, along with information about various allowances. The PIO
replied on 19.03.09 providing the information. Not satisfied with the reply, the
Applicant filed her first appeal on 04.03.09 reiterating her contention as given in the
RTI request and seeking account number in which the pension is being deposited. On
not receiving any information from the Appellate Authority she filed her Second Appeal
before the CIC on 24.06.09 seeking the account number once again.

2. The Bench of Mrs. Annapurna Dixit, Information Commissioner, heard the matter on
January 13, 2010.

3. The Appellant was heard through audio conferencing.

4. Mr. Om Prakash, Sr. DMM, Mr. A.K. Kathpal, ADRM, Mr. Suresh Manther, Sr. DPO and
Mr. S.S. Solanki, SWI represented the Public Authority.
Decision

5. The Respondents submitted that the Appellant is seeking the account number of her
husband in connection with the some court case. He stated that when the Appellant
had approached the bank in which the pension is being deposited she was misinformed
that the account has been closed. She then approached the Respondents with the RTI
application seeking information about the exact account in which the pension is being
deposited. The Respondent added that in order to help the Appellant, who is not being
treated well by her spouse, they obtained the account number from the Bank and are
now willing to furnish to same to the Appellant.

6. The Commission directs the PIO to provide the Account number to the Appellant within
20 days receipt of the Order. The Appeal is accordingly disposed of.
