Title: Need to address the problems of foodgrains exporters in the country.

SHRI M. APPADURAI (TENKASI): MMTC, Public Sector Undertaking is responsible for overseas operations of foodgrains by the Indian exporters. A contract regarding rates of foodgrains is entered between MMTC and exporters. But when execution of export, MMTC violates agreement of rates and increases the rates of foodgrains causing huge loss of money to exporters. The aggrieved exporters go to courts for justice. The number of cases against MMTC is rising. The legal expenses for both sides is tremendously increasing. It also collects Sales Tax on gunny bags which are not mentioned in the agreement resulting further loss to exporters.

I urge upon the Government to remove the difficulties being faced by the exporters and instruct MMTC not to violate contract agreement such as holding storage rental, difference in CHA rates.
