SHRI BIR SINGH MAHATO (PURULIA) : The construction of rail line from Jhargram to Purulia in the State of West Bengal is a long standing demand of the people. This issue has been raised in the Lok Sabha several times. The people have also demonstrated and are agitated over the issue. The total length of the rail line is 136.24 km. It has also been surveyed and estimated by the South-Eastern Railways.

I urge upon the Central Government to take necessary steps so that the construction of railway line between Jhargram to Purulia may be taken up.
