Title: Need to introduce a Shatabdi Express train between Bangalore and New Delhi.

SHRI G. PUTTA SWAMY GOWDA

(HASSAN): Mr. Deputy-Speaker, Sir, a number of Shatabdi Express trains have been introduced in the country in the recent years. The capital city, New Delhi, has the facility of Shatabdi Express trains to various cities like Mumbai, Calcutta, Chennai, Bhatinda and others. There is no Shatabdi Express between Bangalore and New Delhi despite our repeated representations to hon. Minister of Railways and to the hon. Prime Minister of India.

In fact, there is only one daily train between Karanataka and Delhi whereas the other capital cities of States have three to four trains daily from Delhi. The waiting list for tickets to Bangalore from Delhi and vice versa always goes beyond three hundred.

This Shatabdi Express can cater to the needs of Andhra Pradesh also as the train has to pass through Hyderabad. This would give a new boost and impetus to the fast improving software industry in these three cities – Bangalore, Delhi and Hyderabad. This is a very long pending demand of the people of Karanataka.

I urge upon the hon. Minister of Railways to introduce Shatabdi Express between Bangalore and New Delhi via Hyderabad without any further delay.
