Title: Need to provide more railway facilities at Angul Railway Station in Orissa – Laid.
(DHENKANAL) : The importance of Angul has increased manifold with the opening of Talchar-Sambalpur line and declaration of Angul as a separate district. Angul with NALCO and its ancillaries and Talcher containing MCL, Fertiliser Plant, NTPC and other industries are important towns from where a large number of people go to Calcutta daily. As there is no direct train service from Angul to Howrah they have to go all the way to Cuttack for boarding and changing for Howrah bound trains. This would be possible if coaching terminal facility is provided at Angul for maintenance of coaching rakes in and around Angul area. Railway has already set up a locoshed and wagon repairing unit at Angul.
In view of this, I demand that a Comprehensive Integrated pit line and coaching maintenance facility including computerised Railway reservation is provided at Angul. I also demand that a direct train is introduced between Angul and Howrah without any further delay.
