Title: Need to set up more growth centres in Nagarkurnool parliamentary constituency in Andhra Pradesh.
DR. MANDA JAGANNATH (NAGAR KURNOOL): Sir, Nagarkurnool in Mahboobnagar district is one of the most backward areas in Andhra Pradesh inhabited by mostly tribals, Scheduled Castes and backward classes. The literacy rate in the area is very low (less than 29 per cent). So, unemployment problem in the area is growing day by day besides rising poverty. The galloping unemployment problem may, in turn, give rise to the incidents of unlawful activities like dacoity, murders and even terrorist activities. The Government must, therefore, take to provide growth centres at Kalwakurthy, Achampet and Kollapoor with a view to promoting industrialisation of the backward areas of the district. There is plenty of raw material available in the area like limestone, bamboo and other raw materials required for starting spinning, ginning, mini cement industries. These measures will also solve the unemployment problems. The Andhra Pradesh Government has also requested for starting a growth centre at Jadcherla.
With a view to promoting industrialisation of the backward area, I once again request the Union Government to sanction growth centres at Kalwakurthy, Achampet and Kollapoor so that Nagarkurnool parliamentary constituency will be industrially developed and youths will get employment opportunities. Such initiatives would also benefit the poor and the needy.
