Title: Need to take steps to check the fall in prices of Rubber.

SHRI A.V. BELLARMIN (NAGERCOIL): Rubber is cultivated as a major economic crop in Kanyakumari district and approximately 30 thousand hectares are under rubber cultivation. The price of rubber which was approximately Rs. 135/- per kg last month fell steeply to Rs. 75/- per kg this week. The Steep fall of rubber price has widely affected the rubber growers, the workers and the people engaged with the rubber cultivation and trading. I urge upon the Government to intervene and take effective steps to prevent further fall of price and maintain the prices as before.
