Title: Need to treat Central Para Military Forces at par with Servicemen/Ex-Servicemen of Army in the matter of granting benefits to them.
(QUILON): Thank you very much, Sir, for giving me this opportunity… (Interruptions) Sir, I want to draw the attention of the Government on the following matter.
The Central paramilitary forces work shoulder to shoulder with our Army jawans at our borders. When an Army jawan dies in action, his body is transported to his hometown and a befitting State funeral is given. His bereaved family is taken care of, and cash assistance is also granted. But these acts of kindness are not shown to any BSF, Assam Rifles, ITBP or CRPF jawan dying in action in the border.
This discrimination tells upon the morale of the paramilitary forces working under hazardous and risky conditions meeting the challenges of insurgents, terrorists and disruptive forces.
I, therefore, humbly request the Central Government to consider their needs sympathetically and take action to treat them at par with Servicemen/ex-Servicemen in the matter of grant of benefits when they work in the borders.
