Title : Problems being faced by groundnut growers of Ananthapur district of Andhra Pradesh due to loss of their corps on account of unprecedented rains.
SHRI KINJARAPU YERRANNAIDU : Mr. Chairman, Sir, from September to November, due to heavy rains in Anantapur, which is a drought-prone district, lakhs of acres of groundnut crop was damaged. Thousands of farmers have incurred heavy losses. They are not getting any compensation from the State Government. The State Government of Andhra Pradesh has miserably failed to help the farming community to settle the insurance claims. It is not able to even give inputs subsidy to the farmers who have incurred huge losses due to heavy rains. Hence, my humble request, through you, to the Government of India is that it should come to the rescue of the farmers of Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh and extend some compensation to the affected farmers under the National Calamity Relief Fund.
