Dated this the 24th day of January, 2008

                           JUDGMENT

Petitioner seeks appointment in Government service

on compassionate grounds. Petitioner’s father

P.V.Purushotaman died on 29.9.2000 while employed as a

driver (HV) in Government of India Text Book Press,

Mysore. According to the petitioner, though he is eligible

and application had been made in time, there has been no

response.

2. Learned Standing Counsel, on instructions, submits

that there was an earlier dispute between the petitioner’s

mother, wife of the late Government servant and another

lady who had also raised a claim for the benefit accruing

on the death of the Government servant. There was a

litigation before the Additional Civil Judge in Mysore

which was carried on before the High Court of Karnataka.

Ultimately on 15.12.2005, a compromise petition was

moved by the parties. Apparently the decree accepting

the compromise petition provided that the petitioner’s

mother be granted family pension. It is further

submitted that the petitioner’s application for

appointment on compassionate grounds along with the

enclosures of the report of the officer who made on the

spot enquiries has been forwarded to the Directorate of

Printing for consideration and decision. Director of

Printing had been requested to communicate the

decision and Standing Counsel submits that the decision

will be taken within a period of three months.

Submission is recorded. Writ petition is accordingly

closed.
