OBITUARY REFERENCE
MR. SPEAKER: Hon. Members, I have to inform the House of the sad demise of one of our former colleagues, namely, Shri K.M. Koushik.
Shri K.M. Koushik was a Member of the Fourth Lok Sabha from 1967 to 1970, representing the erstwhile Chanda Parliamentary constituency of Maharashtra.
An able Parliamentarian, Shri Koushik was a Member of the Committee on Private Members’ Bills and Resolutions during 1967-68 and 1969-70 and Committee on Subordinate Legislation from 1970 to 1971.
An advocate by profession, Shri Koushik served as the Public Prosecutor and Government Pleader in Maharashtra.
He took keen interest in cultural activities, like music and dance, and was an office bearer of several institutions furthering the cause of classical music.
Shri Koushik was deeply devoted to the welfare of downtrodden and tribal sections of the society. He also did a close study of the Adivasis in Chanda, Maharashtra.
Shri K.M. Koushik passed away on 27 November, 2004 at Pune, Maharashtra at the age of 98.
We deeply mourn the loss of this friend and I am sure the House would join me in conveying our condolences to the bereaved family.
The House may now stand in silence for a short while as a mark of respect to the memory of the departed.
