Title: Regarding Bangalore International airport.

*SHRI M. SHIVANNA (CHAMARAJANAGAR) : Sir, today I would like to speak on an important matter regarding the shortcomings found in the operation of Bengaloru International Airport.

Sir, Bengaloru international airport, started functioning in May 2008.  Even after six months we find that there are no basic amenities in this airport.  Passengers are facing problems. Foreign tourists have also expressed their disappointment about the functioning of this airport. I would like to bring to the notice of the Government through you some of the major problem. They are :-

1. There is no continuous power supply.

2. There are no baggage loaders.

3. Acute shortage of security.

4. Air Traffic Control-ATC is malfunctioning.

5. The accoustics at the airport is so bad that one cannot hear any announcements.

So far 60 persons have lost their lives in road accidents near the airport on the National High Ways.  Traffic jam is a daily problem and this has not been sorted out till now.  I therefore urge upon the Hon. Minister of Civil Aviation whether his Ministry is taking any concrete steps to solve the problems of the new Bengaloru Airport.
