Background

Vide application dated 14.08.2008 under the provisions of the RTI Act. 2005, the
appellant sought information on 9 points regarding a Dowry harassment complaint filed by his
wife Smt. Pratibha in the CAW Cell, Nanak Pura. Vide letter dated 3.09.2008, Sh. H. P. S.
Virk, PIO (DCP) Crime, Women Cell, Nanak Pura, replied to the RTI application. Dissatisfied
with the reply the appellant filed an appeal before the First Appellate Authority. The First
Appellate Authority upheld the decision of the CPIO. The appellant has now filed a second
appeal before the Commission

2. The matter was heard on 19.11.2009

3. The appellant was not present for the hearing.

4. Sh. H. P. S. Virk, DCP (CAW Cell)-cum-CPIO, Sh. Dinesh Sharma,
Inspector/CAW Cell and Sh. Ashok Kumar, ASI/CAW Cell represented the
respondents.

5. In the absence of the appellant, after examining the RTI application and the reply of
the CPIO, the Commission finds that, in effect, the appellant wanted to know
whether a list of Dowry articles was provided by his wife to the police and matters
connected herewith. Through his reply the CPIO informed the appellant that the
Dowry list has been supplied by his wife to the Police and that for rest of the
information the CPIO had forwarded the RTI application to the South-West
District.

Decision

The CPIO, CAW Cell, Nanak Pura, is hereby directed to furnish the list of articles to
the appellant, supplied by his wife.

Regarding the rest of the information, the CPIO, South-West District is directed to
reply to the appellant under the provisions of the RTI Act. 2005.
