Facts
:
1. The appellant did not avail of the opportunity of personal hearing on
20/8/2008. The appeal is, therefore, examined on merit.
2. The appellant has sought for information relating to the amount of interest
credited in a saving account operated by a school, which is identified in his
application for information.
3. The CPIO has replied and refused to furnish the information u/s 8(1)(j) of
the Act, on the ground that the disclosure of information is not in public interest.
The appellant has, however, not indicated as to how he is affected in the matter.
Decision:
4. The details of information asked for relate to a saving account operated by
a third party. The appellant has not indicated as to how he is associated or
affected in the case. Therefore, the denial of information u/s 8(1)(j) is justified.
5. In case, however, the appellant is able to prove his credentials as one of
the authorized person to operate the account in question, his request for
information should be considered by the CPIO.
