Facts

:

1. Both the parties were heard on 11/7/2008.

2. The appellant stated that he had received a telephone bill without
operationalisation of the telephone connection. In this backdrop, he had sought
for certain information. He has alleged that the CPIO has not provided complete
information.

3. The CPIO stated that the information, as asked for, have been furnished
and there is no denial of information. He said that the appellant did not
cooperate in installation of the phone equipment on the ground of it being an old
equipment. He also said that an attempt has been made to redress the
grievances of the appellant. A part of the total bill amount was waived of.

4. In the course of hearing, the CPIO assured the appellant that he would
look into his grievances relating to excess bill and on the basis of actual uses of
telephone facility, the bill in question would be settled.

Decision:

5. As agreed between the parties, the CPIO is directed to make sincere
efforts to redress the grievances of the appellant, including settlement of disputes
relating to excess bills. This should be done within 15 working days from the
date of issue of this decision.

6. Had the respondent made adequate arrangements for redressal of
grievances of its customers, an application under the provisions of RTI could
have been avoided.

7. The appeal is thus disposed of.
