Background
1. The Applicant filed an RTI application dt.2.3.09 with the CPIO, DoP, Sitamarhi
requesting for all the applications filed by Applicants during the period 1.4.08
to 2.3.09 in all the rural post offices in Sitamarhi for the post of GDS. The
CPIO replied on 19.3.09 stating that the information is confidential and
cannot be provided. The Applicant filed an appeal dt.11.4.09 with the
Appellate Authority reiterating his request for the information. On not
receiving any reply, he filed a second appeal dt.4.6.09 before CIC.
2. The Bench of Mrs. Annapurna Dixit, Information Commissioner, scheduled the
hearing for August 17, 2009.
3. Both the Respondent and the Appellant were absent at the hearing.
Decision
4. The Commission received a rejoinder dated 12.8.09 from the Supdt. of Post
offices, Sitamarhi stating that in compliance with the Appellate Authority’s
order, complete information along with copies of applications, certificates and
other relevant documents were furnished to the Appellant on 10.6.09. The
information was again handed over to the Appellant by the Inspector Post,
Central Sub Division, Sitamarhi after receipt of the notice about the hearing
from the CIC, vide letter dated 11.8.09. Since the information has been
provided, the Commission accordingly disposes off the appeal.
