Background
1. The Applicant filed an RTI application dt.6.7.09 with the PIO, RPO, Lucknow requesting
for information against 6 points with regard to issuance of his passport. On not
receiving any reply, he filed a complaint dt.18.8.09 before CIC stating that he has not
received any information. The CIC vide its order dt.29.10.09 directed the PIO to
provide the information by 30.11.09 and to show cause for the delay in providing the
information by 4.12.09.
2. The Bench of Mrs. Annapurna Dixit, Information Commissioner, scheduled the hearing
for December 8, 2009.
3. Shri P.Roychaudhuri, Advocate represented the Public Authority.
4. The Complainant was present during the hearing.
Decision
5. The respondent submitted that information sought was provided on 13.8.09 and that
the passport No.H.5289295 dt.21.7.09 was dispatched on 4.8.09 vide speed post, to
the Complainant.
6 After hearing both sides and reviewing the information provided, the Commission
holds that available information has been provided on time to the Complainant and
drops the penalty proceedings against the PIO.
7. The complaint is accordingly disposed off.
