Facts
By his letter of 21.4.2008, the appellant had requested for PAN number of
Shri Pusa Ram Pindyar & Shri Pusa Lal Pindyar resident of Madanganj-Kishanganj,
Distt. Ajmer, (Raj).
2. Shri Surender Yadav, ITO, Kishangarh, had refused to disclose this
information vide his order dated 7.5.2008 in terms of section 8 (1) (j) of the RTI Act.
3. The Appellate Authority had upheld the decision of CPIO vide order dated
1.7.2008.
4. The present appeal is directed against the order of CPIO/AA.
5. The matter was heard on 13.4.2009. The parties did not appear before the
Commission. Hence, it was decided to pass an appropriate order on the basis of
material on record. The appellant herein has requested for PAN number of above
mentioned two persons. Undeniably it is a personal information which is exempted
from disclosure u/s 8 (1) (j) of the RTI Act. The appellant has not adduced any
cogent grounds in his appeal to persuade the Commission to hold that the larger
public interest would be sub-served in disclosing this information.
DECISION
6. In this view of the matter, I find no infirmity in the orders passed by the
CPIO/AA. Hence, the appeal is dismissed.
