1. The appeal was scheduled for hearing on 2nd June, 2010, but the
appellant did not avail of the opportunity of personal hearing. The appeal is
therefore examined on merit.
2. The appellant has asked for information relating to import and export
activities of different companies. The CPIO has refused to provide the
information u/s 8 (1) (d) of the Act. Being dissatisfied with CPIO’s response, the
appellant has pleaded for providing the information asked for by him.
Decision:
3. The CPIO has refused to provide the information u/s 8 (1) (d) of the Act,
on the ground that the disclosure of information would affect the competitive
position of the third parties, companies. The appellant has not indicated as to
what is the public interest in accessing the commercial and business related
information of different companies.

4. This appeal is therefore considered unnecessary and is thus disposed of.
