Name of the Public Authority : CPIO, Punjab National Bank,

Both the parties were present in the chambers of the CIC. The parties made
their respective submissions.
2. The Appellant had sought numerous items of information regarding the
premises taken on lease by the Bank, the illegal occupation of the premises after the
expiry of the rent contract cases pending in law courts and the fee the advocates are
paid to defend such cases.
3. During the hearing, it was submitted by the Respondents that the information
requested was not available in the form requested by the Appellant. The Respondent
further pointed out that the Punjab National Bank had two zones in Delhi, North and
South, and such information, if any, might be available in numerous files maintained in
these zones relating to each of lease. Moreover, it was also submitted that the
compilation of such information from individual files would result in disproportionate
diversion of resources of the bank since it would involve examining as many as 298
different files.
4. In view of the above submissions the CPIO is directed to provide the
information to the Appellant within 10 working days of the receipt of the order, only if it
is available centrally, and either in the form requested by the Appellant or in any other
form it is available.
5. The Appeal is disposed of accordingly.
6. Copies of this order be given free of cost to the parties.
