JUDGMENT
Raman, J.
Petitioners are elected members of Kottayam District Panchayat.
By Ext.P2 notice the 3rd respondent summoned the petitioners to
attend the meeting scheduled to be held on 2/1/2008 for electing the
new President for the Kottayam District Panchayat. Petitioners
apprehend that in view of the severe threat to their life from some
political parties, they may not be in a position to exercise their
franchise without fear.
2. Heard the learned Government Pleader also.
3. In the circumstances, there will be a direction to respondents
1 and 2 to give necessary protection to the petitioners so as to enable
them to exercise their franchise for electing the President on 2/1/2008.
Writ Petition is disposed of as above.
