Title: Statement regarding extension of ceasefire agreement with NSCN(K).

THE MINISTER OF HOME AFFAIRS (SHRI L.K. ADVANI): Mr. Deputy-Speaker Sir, the Government of India had entered into a formal ceasefire with the NSCN (K) for a period of one year with effect from 28th April 2001.

During this period, there have been discussions between the representatives of Government of India and the NSCN (K). Both sides are satisfied with the progress made so far in implementing the ceasefire.

Both sides have, therefore, agreed to extend the ceasefire by a period of one year with effect from 28th April 2002.
