Title: Submission by Members regarding situation arising out of the proposed shilapuja by VHP in the disputed area of Ayodhya.

SHRI H.D. DEVE GOWDA

(KANAKPURA): Sir, the question of observing the formalities according to the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business has to be suspended today. I am sorry to say this as a former Prime Minister. We cannot allow the way in which things are going on in this country. We cannot be silent spectators. The Prime Minister says one thing; the Minister of State for Home Affairs says one thing; and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad says one thing. What is going to happen on the 15th? Are we here to see everything as a silent spectator? This matter has to be decided once and for all in the Parliament, which is the apex institution. We have not come here to see the tamasha. … (Interruptions)

SHRI H.D. DEVE GOWDA : Sir, I would like to emphasise on this particular issue, apart from what happened in Gujarat. I know that Gujarat issue has been fixed in the agenda for discussion. Only three days are left to the 15th. We want to know categorically from the hon. Prime Minister what is going to happen on 15th. Do they want bloodbath in the whole country? This is a matter to be settled.

Please pardon me for having raised this issue before the regular agenda is taken up. As a former Prime Minister, I am sorry. We cannot allow this to go on. Let the hon. Prime Minister come to the House and make it categorically clear. Today, a leader of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad says that they are going to reject whatever is the outcome of the Supreme Court’s decision. We want to know from the Government where we are we going to stand. Till then, we do not want to allow the House to transact the business.
