AJAI LAMBA, J (Oral)

1. This petition has been filed under Section 482

Cr.P.C. on the premise that the petitioners being of marriageable

age, got married. The marriage is legal. The private respondents,

however, are not accepting the marriage and therefore, it has been

pleaded that the petitioners apprehend danger to their life and

liberty.

2. This petition is disposed of with direction to

respondent No.2 i.e. Senior Superintendent of Police, Amritsar

(Rural), District Amritsar, to treat a copy of this petition as a
Crl. Misc. No. M-32813 of 2011 [2]

representation and issue necessary orders as warranted by law so as

to ensure protection of life and liberty of the petitioners.

3. This order, however, shall not be construed to

mean that the petitioners were of marriageable age at the time of

their marriage or that the marriage is legal as per laws applicable to

the case of the petitioners.

4. It is further made clear that this order shall not

clothe the petitioners with any protection against their arrest or

continuance of proceedings in case they are found involved in

commission of a cognizable offence.
