J U D G M E N T
Raman, J.
Petitioner is a candidate in the election to the Board of
Directors of Vaikom Urban Co-operative Bank Ltd. The election is
scheduled to be held on 26.7.2009. The petitioner apprehends that
unless police protection is ordered, there is likelihood of the election
being disrupted.
2. We have gone through the averments made in the writ
petition. Since the election is to be held to a Co-operative Society, it is
the duty of the State to see that such election is conducted in a peaceful
manner, without being interrupted by anybody.
3. In the circumstances, we direct respondents 2 and 3 to
give necessary protection for the smooth conduct of the election to the
Board of Directors of Vaikom Urban Co-operative Bank Ltd.
scheduled to be held on 26.7.2009.

4. The petitioner may produce a copy of this judgment
before respondents 2 and 3 for information and compliance.
The writ petition is disposed of as above.
