Justice CV Bhadang, Former Bombay High Court Judge, Assumes Role as President of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT)

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has given its approval to appoint Justice CV Bhadang as the President of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT), as per a note dated October 18.

Justice Bhadang was born on November 5, 1960, in Khamgaon, District Buldhana. He earned his LL.B. degree from Nagpur University and was enrolled as an advocate on December 5, 1984. His legal practice predominantly focused on civil and criminal law in the district court and the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court before he transitioned to the Maharashtra Judicial Service.

Beginning his judicial career on October 3, 2000, as a directly recruited district judge, Justice Bhadang served in various roles, including Additional District and Sessions Judge in Nagpur, Member of the Industrial Tribunal in Bandra, and Principal District and Sessions Judge in Nashik.

In addition, he held key positions within the Bombay High Court’s Registry, serving as Registrar (Vigilance), Registrar (Judicial), Registrar (Personnel), and Registrar (Inspection). His appointment as the Registrar General came on May 13, 2013.

On March 3, 2014, he was elevated to the position of a judge in the Bombay High Court, where he served until his retirement on November 4, 2022.
