Madhya Pradesh High Court Takes Umbrage at Lawyer’s Comments, Directs Action

0

The Madhya Pradesh High Court recently expressed strong displeasure over a lawyer’s comments regarding the slow progress of a case. Advocate PC Paliwal allegedly said, “This drama is going on in this court for the last 4 hours, I am sitting and watching” ¹. He further added, “look at the condition of the judges, what happened in Delhi should also be seen,” which was deemed contemptuous and disgraceful by the court ¹.

Justice Anuradha Shukla directed that the matter be placed before the Chief Justice for necessary action, stating that the lawyer’s comments were “disgraceful and contemptuous remarks against this Court” ¹. The court’s March 22 order reads, “It would be appropriate that certified copy of this order is placed before Hon’ble the Chief Justice for his kind perusal and needful. The case is adjourned” ¹.

Paliwal’s comments were made after he argued for some time and then expressed his grievance about the case being dragged. He requested that the matter be placed before another bench, citing the slow progress and increasing pressure ¹.
