The Gujarat High Court Monday refused to entertain a plea of a man who wrote his caste in the title of his petition.

Bhapadiya (Brahmin) Navinbhai Mayaram filed the petition before the first bench of the court and sought implementation of a central government welfare scheme in his village Bhapdi in Tharad taluka (sub-district) of Banaskantha district.

He claimed that there was large-scale corruption in the scheme’s implementation and money was being misappropriated.

The bench of Chief Justice S.J. Mukhopadhaya and Justice J.B. Pardiwala refused to entertain the plea.

‘It seems that the petitioner is trying to impress the court based on his caste,’ the bench said.

The bench allowed him to file a fresh petition.
