
A local court of Jaunpur (UP) here today sentenced four persons to life imprisonment in the murder of a block pramukh in 2000.
Kailash Singh, block pramukh, was called over by the convicts to work out a dispute relating to drain on November 23, 2000 and he was murdered while he was returning alongwith his nephew on a motorcycle, prosection said.
The nephew who had somehow managed to escape the attack had lodged the FIR with Newadia police.
After hearing both sides, Additional Sessions Judge Vansh Bahadur Yadav sentenced Mushtaq, a gram pradhan, Shabbir, Kalam and Gani to life term besides imposing a fine of Rs.
13,000 each.
Four others have been acquitted in the case while one accused died during the trial, prosecution added.
