Lawyer’s complaint against Gopal Subramanium

A Delhi-based advocate today termed as “illegal” the AAP government-appointed inquiry panel, headed by senior lawyer Gopal Subramanium, to probe alleged irregularities in Delhi cricket body DDCA.

Advocate Ajay Agrawal has also served a legal notice to the Bar Council of India for not acting on his complaint, filed in 2010, against Subramanium on grounds of alleged professional misconduct and sought action on it within a month.

Attempts to reach Subramanium, who was away from the capital, for his comments were unsuccessful.

“The BCI sat on my complaint for the last five years. It should act within a month or I shall move the court,” the advocate told a press conference here.

Agrawal, who had contested on a BJP ticket in Rae Bareli in the last Lok Sabha elections, cited Subrmanium’s act of appearing for two of the accused first and for the CBI later in the Bofors scam cases and claimed this was conflict of interest and professional misconduct.

When asked whether he was trying to defend BJP in the DDCA issue, Agrawal replied in the negative.
