IAS officer Y Srilakshmi, who was accused number four in the CBI’s FIR in the illegal mining case involving former Karnataka Minister Gali Janardhan Reddy, appeared before the investigating agency this morning.

Srilakshmi was being questioned by the CBI sleuths since morning, sources said.

She was currently Commissioner for Family Welfare and was Secretary for Industries and Mining Department when Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) owned by Mr Janardhan Reddy was granted leases for mining iron in Anantapur district.

The IAS official was on leave since several days and returned here from chennai yesterday.

The CBI had arrested former APMDC Managing Director V D Rajagopal in the mining case on Saturday last and questioned him after getting permission from court.

Mr Janardhan Reddy and Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) Managing Director B V Srinivas reddy were arrested at Bellary on September 5 after they were found to be involved in illegal mining and currently lodged in Chanchalguda Jail.

Srilakshmi, however, denied any ”wrong doing” and told the CBI that she took the decision of granting leases as per rules.

  1. It is nothing uncommon to deny the whole issue to fool the public and public functionaries. The action of the public servants to continue her in the important seat of mining ministry itself proves that she is capable of purchasing anything and everything as long as commodity is available at a price in the corrupt market.
