A local court today sentenced two persons to life imprisonment for the murder of a scrap dealer in Odisha’s Sundargarh district about four years ago.
Additional Sessions judge Srinibash Pratihari pronounced the jail term for Mahesh Gope and Rabi Nayar after holding both guilty of killing scrap dealer Ananda Panda (35) in June, 2013.
Two of the accused were acquitted due to lack of evidence.
According to the prosecution, Panda was murdered near Deogaon Slag Plant over business rivalry as all of them,
On the day of the murder, Panda was stopped when he approached his stockyard. He was shot at and then attacked with a sharp weapon.
