Uttarakhand HC dismisses plea seeking ban on Kedarnath for hurting religious sentiments

UTTARAKHAND: The Uttarakhand High Court Thursday dismissed a PIL filed against Sara Ali Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput starrer Kedarnathfor allegedly hurting religious sentiments and ‘lowering the dignity’ of the eponymous deity.

The Uttarakhand government has now decided not to impose any prohibition on the screening of the film. Set against the backdrop of the 2013 deluge, the film which depicts the love story of a Muslim porter and a Hindu girl on a pilgrimage to Kedarnath releases on Friday.

On Thurasday both Bombay and Gujrat High Court dismissed a PIL opposing the release of Bollywood film Kedarnath. Prakash Rajput, president of International Hindu Sena, had filed the plea claiming that the movie hurt the sentiments of Hindus as it featured a Muslim boy falling in love with a Hindu Girl.
