LUCKNOW- The case relating to vandalism and arson at the residence of UPCC president Rita Bahuguna Joshi here has been handed over to the Crime Branch of the Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID).
Higher authority said that the CB-CID was directed to submit a report at the earliest. No time frame was set for completion of the inquiry.
Official said handing over the case to the CB-CID was the government’s response to the Opposition demand for an impartial probe into the incident. Action would be taken against any person involved in the incident, whether they belonged to the Congress or the BSP.
On the alleged connivance of the police in the incident, Mr. Singh said the CB-CID probe would cover every aspect of the incident.
Ms. Joshi’s residence was torched by vandals on July 15 night, ostensibly in protest against the objectionable remarks she made against Chief Minister Mayawati at a Mahila Congress meeting in Moradabad.
