Background

1. The Applicant filed an RTI application dated 31.03.09 with the CPIO/BSNL,
Bhubaneshwar, requesting for information regarding Job contractor bill & job
contractor workers for Feb, 2009 & Landline status in Orissa (Annexure 1 to
Annexure 5) as on 31.03.09 and also particulars of the property acquired by
BSNL staff. The CPIO replied on 02.06.09 requesting the Applicant to give him
four months time to collect the information which is exhaustive. Being
aggrieved by the order of the CPIO, the Appellant herein filed his First Appeal
before the Appellate Authority on 11.05.09 reiterating his RTI request. On not
receiving any reply from the Appellate Authority, the Applicant filed a second
appeal before the CIC on 05.07.09.

2. The Bench of Mrs. Annapurna Dixit, Information Commissioner, scheduled the
hearing for 5th October, 2009.

3. Mr. Dhanurjaya Majhi, DE (P&A) was present during the hearing.

4. The Applicant was not present during the hearing.

Decision

5. The Commission received a letter dated 30.90.09 from the Dy. General
Manager-cum-CPIO, Koraput stating that the copy of the information
requested by the Applicant has been provided to the Applicant on 26.9.09. He
stated that the newly created CPIO, BSNL Koraput had to collect information
from 13 Telecom District of Orissa Circle who are the custodian of the
information of their Telecom District. Also the information sought was
voluminous adding upto around 8 lakhs telephones and also involved
examination of legal validity of information desired.

6. He enclosed a copy of information furnished for the perusal of the
Commission. The Commission holds that information has been provided to the
Appellant and accordingly disposes of the Appeal.

7. The appeal is accordingly disposed off.
