Title: Need to direct All India Council of Technical Education to permit State Government of Karnataka to increase Information Technology related courses in Engineering Colleges.
SHRI S.D.N.R. WADIYAR (MYSORE): There are as many as 77 Engineering Colleges in the State of Karnataka. As there is enormous potential for information technology related courses, more number of Engineering Colleges require to be set up in the State. It is an admitted fact that IT has become an integral part of everyoneâs day to day life. It has been given wide acknowledgement worldwide. Increase in the IT related courses will brighten the prospects of the students not only of Karnataka but also of entire India. Students from all States come to Karnataka to study engineering because of the study atmosphere, high standard of imparting teaching and the care that is taken by the State Government. Thousands of students passing from Engineering Colleges are posted in India and go abroad every year. So, the increased educational prospects in IT related courses would not be confined to Karnataka alone, the students coming from various States will derive the benefit. But the All India Council of Technical Education has not approved the increase of introduction of IT related courses in the Engineering Colleges in that State.
I seek the intervention of the Government of India in the matter and request the concerned Ministry to direct the All India Council of Technical Education to permit the State Government of Karnataka to increase IT related Engineering Courses as required at present.
