NEW DELHI: In a major set back to the Gandhi-family owned Associated Journals Limited, the Delhi High Court on Friday ordered to vacate its headquarters in the capital. Associate Journals has to vacate the building in the ITO area of downtown Delhi in two weeks.
The government reportedly inspected the premises a few months ago and found that the area allotted to AJL was not being used for the publication of the newspaper for the past 10 years, the court was told. In 2008, Associated Journals had shut down over its debts. AJL had denied the allegations in the petition filed in the high court. AJL had also argued that several major papers carry out printing elsewhere. On November 12, the National Herald tweeted that the BJP government was targeting its growing digital presence.
