A 30-year-old woman from Vadodara on Tuesday filed a complaint with Chandkheda police, alleging that her husband was torturing her for a dowry of Rs 2 lakh & frequently had sex with her against her will.
The complainant, who married a Chandkheda-based man on Jan18, 2014, also alleged that she was forced to abort her first child but she resisted & delivered a boy 4 years ago.
Her husband, an insurance agent, abandoned her in July, & she was forced to fend for herself, she has alleged.
In her First Information Report (FIR), she states that her husband & in-laws demanded jewellery & even after her father fulfilled these demands, they continued to demand a dowry of Rs 2 lakh cash. She stated that her husband didn’t allow her to study & made her stay at home. On her continuing to ask that she be allowed to study further, she was tortured by her husband, she alleged.
Chandkheda police registered a case of domestic violence against her husband & 6 members of his family.
