NSUI’s Petition against DUSU Election Nomination rejection was dismissed

The Supreme Court a bench of comprising Justices B N Aggarwal, G S Singhvi and Aftab Alam, upheld the Delhi High Court order dismissing the petition filed by two NSUI candidates for the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections against cancellation of their nominations.

The Returning Officer had cancelled the nomination papers of the two petitioners, Deepak Negi and Umesh Talwar along with other three Akhil Bhartiya Vidhyarthi Prishad (ABVP) candidates on the grounds of Incurring excessive expenditure on the election campaign.

Six other candidates Asha Kiran and Chetan Arya of INSO, Arshdeep Kaur (NSUI), Kirti Wadhera (ABVP), Harvinder (AISF) and Manoj Chaudhary (Independent Candidate) are also under the scanner of the returning officer and have already been issued show-cause notices seeking response by this evening.
