Amidst the ongoing protests over communal clashes in Haryana, the Supreme Court has taken cognizance of the matter after a petition seeking intervention to prevent rallies that might incite violence and fan communal tensions. The court has issued notices to the governments of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Delhi regarding the planned VHP/Bajrang Dal rallies, urging that these events be video-graphed.

In its directive, the Supreme Court has emphasized the need to ensure no hate speech occurs during the rallies, and additional security forces may be deployed if necessary. The court also stressed the importance of using CCTV cameras or making video recordings in sensitive areas to maintain transparency and preserve evidence.

The urgent petition presented earlier requested the court’s intervention to halt the planned rallies by VHP and Bajrang Dal in the Delhi-NCR region, considering the tense situation in Nuh and Gurgaon where communal violence has already occurred. The petition highlighted the potential for serious loss of life and property damage due to any provocation during these rallies.

As protests by Hindu groups continue in Delhi’s Badarpur and Seelampur areas, the situation remains sensitive and requires heightened security measures. Bajrang Dal members held a demonstration near Nirman Vihar metro station, while the VHP called for a protest against the violent clashes in Haryana’s Nuh.

Security has been tightened in Delhi as VHP and Bajrang Dal plan their protests near Nirman Vihar Metro Station, while the VHP has called for a Mahapanchayat in Manesar and a “major demonstration” in Noida. The right-wing organization intends to burn an effigy during the Noida protest.

The Supreme Court will continue to monitor the situation, with the next hearing scheduled for Friday (August 4), and expects the authorities to ensure peace and prevent any escalation of violence or hate speech during the ongoing protests.
